Day by day Itinerary

When you arrive in Cape Town, a private transfer will be ready to take you straight to your hotel.

Spend your first day in South Africa relaxing and exploring at your own pace.

Your Stay Included meal: Breakfast

On your first full day in Cape Town, embark on a guided scenic tour of the Cape Peninsula. Explore iconic spots like Cape Point, Chapman’s Peak, and the famous Boulders Beach, home to a charming colony of penguins.

In the late afternoon, return to your hotel and take a leisurely sunset walk along the historic V&A Waterfront just steps away. This full-day tour offers stunning views, wildlife encounters, and a chance to soak in the natural beauty of the Cape.

Your Stay Included meal: Breakfast

Today, indulge in a full-day tour through South Africa’s picturesque Winelands! Savor world-class wines and take in the breathtaking scenery as you explore the renowned regions of Paarl, Franschhoek, and Stellenbosch.

Begin with a scenic drive through Paarl, home to acclaimed wine estates like Nederburg, Fairview, and Laborie. Then continue to the charming town of Franschhoek, known for its gourmet dining, stunning valley views, and historical significance—this is where Nelson Mandela took his first steps of freedom in 1990 from Groot Drakenstein Prison.

Your final stop is Stellenbosch, a vibrant university town brimming with oak-shaded streets, beautiful Cape Dutch architecture, trendy cafés, art galleries, and boutique shops. It’s the perfect place to unwind, sample more wine, and experience the heart of South Africa’s wine culture.

Your Stay Included meal: Breakfast

Start your final day in Cape Town with a half-day guided tour that includes a ride up the world-famous Table Mountain, one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. Take in panoramic views of the city and coastline before continuing on to the lush and historic Company Gardens.

Wander through the peaceful gardens, surrounded by notable landmarks such as St. George’s Cathedral, the National Art Gallery, the South African Jewish Museum, and more.

After the tour, consider a visit to the District Six Museum, a powerful tribute to the once-thriving multicultural neighborhood that was forcibly dismantled during apartheid in the 1960s and ’70s. It’s a meaningful way to reflect on the city’s complex history.

Your Stay Included meal: Breakfast

After an early breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Cape Town International Airport for your flight to Hoedspruit. Upon arrival, a transfer will take you to your lodge located within the iconic Kruger National Park.

Settle into your lodge and get ready for an unforgettable wildlife experience. Over the next few days, enjoy morning and late afternoon game drives across the private reserve, where you’ll have the chance to spot the Big Five and other incredible wildlife. In between safaris, take advantage of lodge activities or simply unwind and soak in the serenity of the African bush.

Your Stay Included meal: Breakfast

Spend your first full day immersed in the wild beauty of the African savannah. Located within thousands of acres of unspoiled wilderness and bordering Kruger National Park, Thornybush Nature Reserve is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts.

Today, enjoy two thrilling safari drives—one in the early morning and one in the late afternoon. Get up close with Africa’s iconic Big Five, along with an array of other incredible animals, birds, reptiles, and more. Be sure to have your camera ready—this is the perfect opportunity to capture unforgettable moments in the heart of the bush.

Your Stay Included meal: Breakfast

On your final full day at Thornybush, take the time to truly unwind and enjoy the lodge’s exceptional amenities. After your morning safari, indulge in a soothing spa treatment or simply relax by the pool, surrounded by the sounds of the wild.

Savor fresh, locally inspired cuisine at the lodge’s restaurant, then toast your South African adventure with a glass of Cap Classique sparkling wine as the sun sets over the golden savannah. It’s the perfect ending to your unforgettable safari experience.

Your Stay Included meal: Breakfast

After your final early morning game drive and breakfast at the lodge, you’ll be transferred to Hoedspruit Airport for your flight to Johannesburg. Upon arrival, enjoy a private transfer to your hotel in the city.

Spend the rest of your day at leisure. Take a walk through Johannesburg’s vibrant and multicultural city center, where traditional medicine shops, Chinese restaurants, taxi ranks, and modern skyscrapers blend into a fascinating urban tapestry.

Your Stay Included meal: Breakfast

Today, embark on a powerful full-day Journey to Freedom tour through Johannesburg, where you’ll explore key landmarks that reflect South Africa’s painful yet inspiring path to democracy.

Start at the world-renowned Apartheid Museum, where an immersive experience traces the country’s segregationist past—from the implementation of apartheid to Nelson Mandela’s historic release. Through photographs, film clips, and personal accounts, you’ll gain a moving insight into the struggle for equality.

Next, travel to Soweto, where you’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant before visiting the Hector Pieterson Museum, named after the 13-year-old student killed during the 1976 student uprising. Then pass by the Mandela House, the former residence of Nelson Mandela, with an option to step inside the small but meaningful museum.

Continue on to Regina Mundi Church, famously known for hosting secret meetings of anti-apartheid activists. As you stand within its walls, imagine the courage and determination of those who risked everything to fight for freedom.

The day ends at Soccer City (FNB Stadium), Africa’s largest stadium and the heart of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. See why football holds such a powerful place in South African culture and unity.

A day of reflection, education, and inspiration—this tour offers a deeper appreciation of the country’s past and the resilience of its people.

Your Stay Included meal: Breakfast (excluding early morning departures)

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport for your flight home. Take one last look at the vibrant city below as your unforgettable South African adventure comes to a close.

The check-in at the lodge took longer than expected after a long flight. The safari was good but a bit rushed. Could have used more downtime.

Cape Town’s Table Mountain cable car was closed one day, which was disappointing. The tour company quickly arranged a city alternative, though. Beautiful area, great wine tasting.

The trip overall was good but had a few hiccups. Our flight was delayed, which pushed back some safari drives. The lodge food was fine but not great—my partner missed more variety. Cape Town was beautiful, though, and the visits to the museums gave us a deeper understanding of the country’s past. If you like packed itineraries with lots of sightseeing, it’s a solid choice.
