Jordan Highlights: Dead Sea, Petra, Amman & Wadi Rum Tour

This morning begins with a brief welcome meeting hosted by your Tour Manager to go over the journey ahead. Afterward, the day is yours to relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings of the Dead Sea, or you may choose to join an optional excursion to Bethany, the revered site where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. Rich in biblical history, this area is also believed to be where the prophet Elijah ascended to heaven in a chariot of fire. Bethany served as a key stop for early Christian pilgrims traveling between Mount Nebo and Jerusalem. In the evening, reconvene for an orientation meeting with your Tour Manager, followed by a welcome dinner to kick off your journey through Jordan.

Today, have your delicious breakfast at the hotel and embark on a scenic drive toward the ancient city of Petra, with several fascinating stops along the way.

Begin with a visit to Mount Nebo, believed to be the final resting place of Moses, where you’ll take in breathtaking views of the Jordan Valley and Dead Sea. Next, continue to Madaba, known as the “City of Mosaics.” Here, you’ll visit Saint George’s Church, home to the famed Byzantine mosaic map of the Holy Land — one of the oldest in existence.

After a stop at Moses Springs, visit a local mosaic school and workshop to see artisans at work preserving this ancient craft. Enjoy lunch in Madaba, then head south to explore the atmospheric ruins of Shobak Castle, a 12th-century Crusader fortress dramatically perched on a hilltop just east of the Arabah Valley. Later in the day, continue your journey to Petra, where you’ll check in and settle in for the night, ready to explore the Rose-Red City tomorrow.

This morning, set out to explore the legendary city of Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Carved directly into rose-colored sandstone cliffs by the Nabateans in the 3rd century BC, Petra is a breathtaking testament to ancient ingenuity and artistry. Your journey begins with a walk through the dramatic Siq, a narrow, winding gorge flanked by towering rock walls. At its end, you’ll be greeted by the awe-inspiring sight of the Treasury (Al-Khazneh) — standing over 140 feet tall, it’s one of Petra’s most iconic and photographed landmarks.

As you continue, explore the vast archaeological site, including soaring temples, royal tombs, an ancient theater, burial chambers, and intricate water channels — all vivid reminders of a once-flourishing civilization. After the guided portion, enjoy free time to explore at your own pace or simply take in the atmosphere of this unforgettable site. Later, return to your hotel to relax and reflect on the wonders you’ve witnessed.

Begin your day with a visit to Little Petra (Siq al-Barid), a hidden gem just north of Petra. Though smaller in scale, this archaeological site offers a fascinating glimpse into Nabatean life, with its rock-carved temples, tombs, cisterns, and even rare frescoes dating back to the 1st century AD. Wander through the narrow canyon and imagine the ancient caravans that once passed through this historic site.

Afterward, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, savoring authentic Jordanian flavors before continuing your journey into the dramatic wilderness of Wadi Rum — a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its surreal, otherworldly landscapes. Known as the “Valley of the Moon,” this vast desert was the backdrop for the iconic film Lawrence of Arabia, inspired by the memoirs of T.E. Lawrence.

Hop into a 4×4 vehicle for an exhilarating ride through the desert’s breathtaking terrain. Cross red sand dunes, pass by wind-sculpted mountains, and marvel at the massive sandstone formations — including the legendary “Seven Pillars of Wisdom.” This unforgettable adventure through Wadi Rum will leave you in awe of nature’s artistry and Jordan’s cinematic beauty.

This morning, depart Wadi Rum and begin your journey north toward Amman. If time allows, enjoy a heartwarming stop at a local school*, where you’ll have the special opportunity to meet students and learn about their daily lives and educational routines — a meaningful glimpse into modern Jordanian culture.

Continue along the historic King’s Way to the ancient city of Kerak, home to the impressive Crusader-era Kerak Castle. Dating back to the 12th century, this massive fortress once played a strategic role during the Crusades. Explore its stone-vaulted halls, narrow passageways, and defensive towers as your guide brings the history of the region to life.

Afterward, enjoy lunch in Kerak before continuing your drive to Amman, where you’ll check in for an overnight stay in the vibrant Jordanian capital.

Spend the morning at your leisure, relaxing at the hotel or exploring on your own. Alternatively, join an optional excursion to Jerash, one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the world. Located north of Amman, Jerash was once part of the Decapolis — a group of ten prominent Roman cities in the East — and is often referred to as the “Pompeii of the East” for its remarkable state of preservation. Walk through its ancient theaters, early Christian churches, colonnaded streets, and impressive temples of Zeus and Artemis, as well as the striking Nymphaeum and the Cardo, the city’s main thoroughfare.

Return to Amman for lunch on your own, with time to sample local cuisine or relax at a café.

In the afternoon, embark on a guided city tour of Amman, often called the “White City” for its elegant limestone architecture. Visit key highlights including the Citadel, offering sweeping views of the city, the Roman Amphitheater, and a selection of local museums that offer insight into Jordan’s rich history.

This evening, gather for a farewell dinner and reflect on the unforgettable journey through Jordan as you bid goodbye.

If time allows enjoy your final few moments in Jordan, some flights depart very early in the morning in that case a transfer will be arranged on day- 8. In other case you can enjoy your last few hours in Jordan and you will be transferred to the airport in the appropriate time.
